2010 Panel Ideas

Postby Kathana Trevalaer on Sat May 01, 2010 9:56 pm

What do we want to talk about? I think we'll definitely need some sort "Holy shit what was THAT?" panel to talk about TGS and speculate wildly on TofM. We haven't done a gender relations panel in awhile. Should we do another one? And I'd like to do a betting pool for TofM like we did for TGS.

Maybe asking Brandon how his life has changed since TGS was released, how things were on the book tour? Highs and lows? We know he can't talk about the next book. How he compares fans at JordanCon to those at DCon? That might be a bit iffy.

We've got one of the eBook artists attending this year as Artist GoH, as well as Irene Gallo, Tor's Art Director. So I'm in the process of putting together a panel.

I wanna bring back the WoT Tech panel! I was also thinking one on costuming (construction), one on rl-world influence (potentially costume specific - along the lines of 'it's not the Renaissance, stupid'), and the costume contest.

I vote Mad Libs. Mainly because this is my first Dragon Con and I have not seen this in action yet, so my curiousity is peaked here folks!

And what is this Gender Relations panel?? I am SO down for that.

HOLY CRAP---Moiraine is coming back is my vote too. Because the Moiraine Panel at Jordan Con was just super kick ass awesome, and could have gone on another hour if we had it.

We have never done WoT Madlibs. It would be a first!

Gender relations is discussing Jordan's particular take on women, his male/female relationships, sexuality, etc. It's a pretty ripe area for picking over.

I'm always reluctant to repeat programing we've done at JordanCon for Dragon*Con and vice versa. There's so much to discuss, it seems silly to repeat things. Also, it encourages people to attend both events, so they don't miss anything. That said, if Jake agrees that we can do another Moiraine panel and it'll be significantly different from what we did at JordanCon, we can consider it.

Oh, we're doing it. We'll be full of regrets later, but we're doing it.

I just had to discipline my Lab for jumping on a house guest. Surely he must be a Mad Lab.
