The voting is this weekend. I've got my fingers crossed.

In the meantime, the organizers have put out a zine advertising their bid.

Up until a few weeks ago, they were running unopposed. Pasadena has thrown in a last minute bid for a write in, but I don't think they are entirely serious. The announcement didn't seem...sober. However, the WorldCon membership can still vote "No Nasfic".

But yeah, I'm in like Flinn on this one.

Congratulations to Warren Buff and the rest of the Nasfic BidCom. We are a GO for ReConStruction next summer! I'm VERY excited.

So is anyone considering this convention? I know it's right on top of DragonCon, so I'm not expect miracles. But it would be really great if we could have a strong WoT presence. We'll be doing promotions for JordanCon 2011 there and I've started talking to the concom regarding WoT programming. If we can swing it, I'd love to have a room party for us too.

Too pricey for me right now. Maybe I'll have more money closer to the date.

The pricing guide was a little confusing, will the price be even higher later?

Yeah, the way they priced it is different than what we're used to. If you donated money to support their bid to host, you get as discount. Otherwise the price is $95. It's high, because it's a one off event. They can't roll the debt forward to next year if they end up with some. And as far as WorldCons go, this is fairly cheap. I think Anticipation was $200+.

I have my schedule of panels for Reconstruction now.

FAN008 So You Want To Run A Con… Fri 900pm MAR Univ C

A discussion of the different problems one runs into by being on a convention committee (ConCom).

FAN014 Blogs And E-Fanzines Sat 700pm RCC 306A

Fans have written to each other for decades. As technology has improved fans have moved into the electronic versions of keeping in touch. How do they use these tools and what do they discuss?

FAN019 Conventions: Butchering The Sacred Cows Sat 100pm RCC 306A

Are Masquerades, Art Shows, Dealers Rooms, etc. really worth their cost in money and manpower? Or are they just so habitual that cons never think about getting rid of them? What would happen if a con did get rid of them? What would we replace them with?
