Age of Legends, LLC to Hold an International Wake for Robert Jordan

On September 16th, 2007 best selling fantasy author Robert Jordan passed away. Jordan struggled for several years with cardiac amylodosis, a rare blood disease that affects eight out of one million people. He will be missed by millions of fans around the world.

In honor of his remarkable achievements and the significant impact he had on his fans, Age of Legends is sponsoring an International Wake. The wake will take place on or around Oct. 17th, 2007, which would have been his fifty ninth birthday.

This is an incredibly opportunity to meet Wheel of Time fans in your area and share your experiences reading the books and seeing Jordan at his many book signings and convention appearances. Our dedicated volunteers are working to rapidly assemble unique events around the globe.

Please do! Just start a thread with your date, time and location. I’m handling publicity.

I am a huge fan of wheel of time. I will miss Jordon and his books that put thrill into my imagination and life.

  6. Diana DaiLyn Says:

There’s a great big Barnes&Noble in Idaho Falls, Idaho- tons of parking at the Grand Teton Mall where it’s located.
I’m certain they would be interested! Let me know if you want me to contact them- if so, I’ll need something official to
show them so as to help the event be co-ordinated. THANKS!

  7. Kyle Says:

If anyone could start one in OKC, it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to put a wake together myself, but if there is anyone at all interested, my wife and I are willing to do whatever we can to help.

  8. Marigan Says:

I live in Las Vegas, and I know that most people tend to forget us out here. If I can be of help for a Vegas wake (and no, I’m not suggesting Gambling, though I’m sure Mat would have enjoyed that kind of entertainment) let me know, please!

  9. Shawn Says:

Please please please someone in the Portland Oregon area get something together! We have many large Barnes & Noble stores that could accomodate this.

  10. Andrei Vaipan Says:

There are fans of WoT everywhere incluidng in Nebraska. I live in Lincoln, NE, and it would be great if this event could be organized here as well.

  11. Nuenya Says:

I’m interested in possibly helping to put together something here in Dubuque, IA… I know there are a few bookstores in town, and I may possibly be able to find one might be interested in something like this, but I’d like to take the proposal to them in a little more ‘official’ form, rather than just some oddball off the street strolling in and saying, “Hey, wanna hold a wake for Robert Jordan?” Is there any kind of flyer/press release/media kit/outline/whatever giving the general overview of what the general plan is, other than the posts I saw on Dragonmount and here? If not, I’ll just print the post on the Age of Legends page and take that in… but I thought maybe I ought to check and see what’s available.

  12. Valeria Says:

I left a comment on dragonmount already, however any chance to organize something in Amsterdam at the American Book Store or Waterstone? May I be of some assistance? I am Italian and perhaps I can also try to contact somebody to organize something there, in Rome. Thank you, Valeria

  13. Nils Says:

How about in Scandinavia? Tons of fans here in Norway at least?

  14. hieronymous Says:

Hey, Diana DaiLyn – Have you set one up in IF yet? If not I’m going to try to arrange something in Boise.
    Let me know – nonPerson81@hotmail.com

  15. Hadwinn Says:

I’m up in the Bangor, Maine region. Anyone starting one in the general area? I know nothing of preparing a wake.

  16. Runner Says:

I live in Bear Lake ID, any chance on that Idaho Falls one?

  17. Jon Barr Says:

I’m an employee at Barnes and Noble in Oklahoma City, and I’ve gotten permission to host a wake on Oct 16 in the store. How do I make this the official OKC leg? Kyle, and any others interested, my e-mail is jonbarr@gmail.com.

  18. Jeremy Says:

I am in San Diego, CA and have read Jordan’s books for the last 8years. I still remember when Winter’s Heart was coming out, and how it received such enthusiasm from myself and a few friends. I would like to get in contact with whom ever is handling the Souther Cali. gathering and help out anyway I can. I am fairly resourceful. Thank you,

    Jeremy Mitchell

  19. Marlin Day Says:

If there is any interest in Jacksonville, Fl. we can have have a
